About Me
- Name: Tony Britten - Capriol comment
- Location: Brinton, Norfolk, GB
I studied singing, piano and conducting at the Royal College of music, from where I graduated with a very poor degree and a very rich experience of the joys of student life. The first ten years or so of my career were as a musical director/arranger in theatre, I worked a lot for Cameron Mackintosh as an MD/superviser and then went to the National Theatre to arrange and conduct their legendary production of "Guys and Dolls". Reckoning that it couldn't get much better than that, I moved into composing and conducting for film and television, at a time when there was still proper money around for music. When that started to get tighter, around ten years ago, I found myself doing more writing and conducting for my opera company, Music Theatre London. I assumed the role of Artistic Director when my co-founder, Nick Broadhurst moved on, and decided to have a go at directing, which I enjoy very much. MTL is still in existence, but my main focus is now on Capriol Films, and I intend to concentrate on the possibly insane idea of making a successful film and television company in the ever more niche market of music and arts.
